Nice mentions of nice projects :-)

Unfortunately he missed LMS8's library integration. But then LMS8 is
still under development. Probably not for his following.

Restore from your backup?

I'm sorry, that's the only valid answer...

Transcoding

I am trying to transcode AAC radio streams to FLAC as an experiment but disabling AAC in file types has no effect, playback remains as AAC. I then tried disabling FLAC native playback expecting FLAC files to be transcoded to PCM but again playback was still FLAC. What could I be doing wrong? Spotty playback is correctly transcoded to FLAC when ogg vorbis is disabled.

Radio plugin update

I recently had a problem with Tunein (another thread) which will not stream RNZed. That problem was not solved. But then I found that the Radio plugin does show/stream RNZed. But when I deleted Radio and then reinstalled it then RNZed was no longer visible just as with Tunein. Recovering a week old backup restored the capability of Radio to see RNZed. I have always, for years now just updated LMS over my original LMS installation, and not changed the Radio plugin Does anyone know if the Radio plugin (which is shown as v1.0) has changed or has LMS changed?

Thanks,

EEYORE

Odd display of artist and album names

I'm seeing something odd in the main LMS window.

My setup:

Logitech Media Server Version: 8.0.0 - 1594371635 @ Fri Jul 10 11:18:48 CEST 2020
Operating system: Debian - EN - utf8
Platform Architecture: x86_64-linux
Perl Version: 5.20.2 - x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi
Audio::Scan: 0.95
IO::Socket::SSL: 2.002
Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.58 (sqlite 3.22.0)

Newly cleared and scanned library

In Settings:Interface, I have Items Per Page set to 10, to give me one page of information per initial letter, more-or-less. But instead of putting all the "A" albums on one page, LMS has incorrectly treated the last few of them as though they begin with accented A's -- you can see this in the row of initial letters at the top of the page. And so it has placed those last few "A" albums on a second page, after all the other "A" albums:

Name: accented-albums.png
Views: 46
Size: 55.8 KB

LMS does the same thing to artist names:

Name: accented-artists-1.png
Views: 42
Size: 13.3 KB
Name: accented-artists-2.png
Views: 42
Size: 12.9 KB
Name: accented-artists-3.png
Views: 42
Size: 13.1 KB

I have confirmed that there are no accented characters in those artist and album names, by direct examination of the tags in Foobar 2000 and also by setting all the scanner logging levels to Debug and examining the 500MB+ log.

Any ideas why this is happening? Is this a known issue?

Podcast

I've submitted a few PR to LMS 8.0 for podcasts to improve the "last position" feature and to add a "recently played" item at the bottom of the podcasts list. They are now part of the 8.0 nightly.

Funny enough, the capability to track podcast progress is a very complicated one. I've just realized that when you enable direct streaming (or don't use my "reliable" plugin which forces proxied streaming), then tracking does not work. I've been scratching my head a lot to find a solution to that silly problem, but can't find any. So be aware that tracking requires proxied streaming as of today.

Server doesn't play whole folder

I have a strange problem: there is a folder includes 901 MP3 files on my server, and it shows correct number of files under "Music folder", but when I press "Play all" it selects first 500 files only. I can play any of files directly, but "Play all" is a different story: 500 file only and that's all. It seems some kind of strange limitation of 500 files exactly, because when I select any other folder with smaller number of files, I haven't any problem with it.

My server is LMS 7.9.2 on Raspberry 4; OS type is Arch Linux Arm 64-bit
My player is Squeezelite 1.9.6 on Raspberry Pi 3; OS type is Arch Linux Arm 32-bit
Access is from Win7 64 through web interface; browser is IE11

LMS on Synology DS213j can't access plugin repos

I am running LMS v 7.9.1-168 on a Synology DS23J running DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 3. I'm trying to install Spotty, so I went to the plugins page of LMS and added the 3rd part respository http://www.herger.net/slim-plugins/repo.xml. However, when I refresh, I get this error message at the the top of the page:

Bad repository http://www.herger.net/slim-plugins/repo.xml - Couldn't resolve IP address for: www.herger.net

It's almost as if LMS cannot access the internet. I can't explain this as the NAS certainly can see the internet, I'm downloading a torrent using Download Station as we speak, and just updated DSM.

Anyone got any clues?

Search results: how to display tracks before albums?

When searching for "all" (rather than for a track, an album or an artist) the results of the query are displayed with artists coming first, then albums, and then tracks/ songs. I would like to have albums displayed last. Is there any way of achieving this?

How to list all Albums and Artists in LMS library

$

Every now and then I search the forums to see if there is a simple, single-click way to output a list of all the Albums I've got, sorted by Artist (must have) and Album Title (a nice bonus) and one album per row. I've not come across one so spent some lockdown hours ploughing through things that Google led me to, to see if I could come up with a way to get the list I would like. I eventually got there, and have written out the steps I took to do it.

And of course, if anyone can point me to an existing single-click way of outputting a simple list, I'd be delighted. And all suggestions for improving the way this works would be appreciated, too.

My steps are a bit clunky, bit I'm pleased with the output I've got. My HTML file is small enough (250KB) to put on my phone, and rapidly scroll through or search with the web browser when I'm looking at CDs in a music shop.

This method is for Windows PC. I have no idea if similar products would work on other systems than Windows 10. Here's a little clip of the top of my list of >3k albums

Hello,

I have been using version 7.9.3 of LMS for years now with no issues at all. Is version 8.0.0 ready for prime time, acknowlegding that it is a 'beta' like 7.9.3?

Many thanks.

I am running version Logitech Media Server Version: 8.0.0 - 1594451286 @ Sat Jul 11 09:19:53 CEST 2020

and mp3 files won't play anymore.

I don't know why last thing I did was updating a pcp from 6.0.0 to 6.1.0 even reverting it back to 6.0.0 doesn't change a thing

example radio url is https://stream.radio21.de/radio21_uelzen.mp3

Also mp3 file of my media library that were playing nice before are now skipped with error message like

Slim::Player::Song::open (409) Error: Couldn't create command line for mp3 playback for [https://stream.radio21.de/radio21_uelzen.mp3]

Any help would be appreciated

Eldrik

Missing menu items under My Music in web interface

I just powered up an old server on my network and installed LMS 8.0. Switched players over to it and brought up the web UI. I notice that under My Music I'm missing "Random Albums". Remind me again what controls the items on this menu? In the settings under Player > Menus, I've added 'Random Albums', but it made no difference.

convert.conf - please explain to me

Hello,

Whenever I'm looking to convert.conf examples, it seems that all transcoding binaries deliver the audio to stdout, is that correct?

Just for experimentation, say I have a binary that always outputs to a file "/home/squeeze/flac.flac", always on the same location.

How can I tell convert.conf to use this file?

Thanks

Track artwork out of sync

Has anyone ever figured out why artwork can sometimes become out of sync when playing a playlist? It doesn't happen very often but when it does it annoys me enough to make me stop the playlist and restart it to regain sync.

pi LMS - Bandcamp wishlist sort-order

I've just installed Logitech Media Server Version: 8.0.0 - 1594451286 on a new Pi4 (4Mb) to potentially supersede my current LMS.

The first oddity I have found is that if I try to change my Bandcamp wishlist order to "Sort by time of addition", I get a waiting for server message at the bottom of the screen which does not clear until I force "Stop Loading the Page". The sort-order does not change.

Nothing related to this shows in the server log.

Genres not showing for some vinyl and/or cassette tape ripped music.

The other day I was looking at what music I have in different genres. While filtering I noticed some of the music digitized from LP (vinyl) or cassette tapes didn't show up. These albums or tapes all have been tagged with the appropriate genre, but they aren't listed under the genre in LMS.

The genre shows up in LMS, but the (vinyl/cassette ripped) music assigned to the genre does not. Changing the genre of a song ripped from a CD worked. It showed up under the genre in question.

Each LP and cassette tape were digitized to single .wav files, split into separate songs and then converted to .flac using EAC. Finally Foobar 2000 was used to tag each album/song. The genres for some of the music done this way works, but some don't.

I'm using LMS version 8 running on Windows 10. Any idea what might cause this issue? Any idea where to start troubleshooting?

I'm grateful for any help I can get.

scanned albums don´t show up

Hey Folks,

I just discovered a strange issue.

I am running LMS on my synology NAS

Logitech Media Server Version: 8.0.0 - 1588308753 @ Fri May 1 07:25:27 CEST 2020
Hostname: Server
Datenbankversion: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1)
Anzahl erkannter Player: 8

titles: 43.444
Albums: 2.560
artists: 7.855

I just found out that under album artist I don´t find Huey Lewis & the news. I own 13 albums but non of them show up.
When I check for Artist the same is true.

now I removed, scanned for errors and re-added these albums. still the artists is not shown.
under "new albums" all re-added albums appear. and I can play them, klick on the artist link that opens a list that includes compilations with tracks from them.

Did anyone of you experience this? I run the server with almost no settings changed and I am afraid that I miss even more albums.
Any hint what i Could do? rebuilding the lib did not help either :-(

best
martin
