Relative file names in m3u playlists

I'm using a NAS (Zyxel NSA325v2) with Logitech Media Server (LMS) Version: 7.7.1 - r33735. I can't get my playlists to run, although they did work previously when using LMS on a PC.

The problem seems to be with using relative file paths in M3U playlists, like:
..\Albums\10CC\04 - How Dare You (1976)\05 - Iceberg.mp3
This reflects an hierarchical Artist\Album\Track structure. I've tried relocating the M3U file in various places, changing the relative path each time, but can't get it to work in LMS.

If I click on an M3U from my PC, it plays all the mp3s correctly, proving that the relative paths are correct. However although I can see all the playlist names in the LMS web interface, each one appears empty as either LMS doesn't understand relative paths or I'm doing something wrong. The M3U only works if there are no relative paths.

After hours of research, I still can't find definitive answers to the following:
- Does Logitech Media Server 7.7.1 support relative paths?
- If yes, any guesses on what I'm doing wrong?
- If no, any suggestions on a workaround?

"Use absolute paths" is an obvious answer but I have hundreds of M3Us and I'm hoping to use them from LMS (couple of Squeezebox Booms), PCs (e.g. VLC) and Twonky (TVs etc.). I can't think of a way for them all to have the same directory names so it seems to me that I need relative paths.

Thanks in advance for any pointers.
