I'm a longtime Squeezebox user, running a combination of nine Squeezebox Radios and Squeezebox Touches that connect to LMS running on a Synology NAS. It's such a beautiful system that I have a couple of extra units stashed away in case one of my primary devices dies.
I was sorely disappointed with Logitech's announcement of the entire UE line in a way that was oversimplified to the point of stripping out necessary features. The deal-breaker, as I recall, was the inability to connect the new UE units through LMS running on a NAS. I didn't even bother following UE after the initial few press releases, but it occurred to me today that Logitech might've (re-)implemented those features since the initial release.
So, rather than doing any research on my own :) , I figured I'd just check in here and ask: What's the state of LMS and the new UE units? Any chance they're now compatible with a NAS-hosted LMS, and/or with old-style Squeezeboxes? Has its development been brought up to a level that's approximately equivalent to its pre-UE state? Or is it still so deficient by comparison that we're all still clinging to the old system?
