LMS + SqueezeLite playing trough Local Speaker instead of USB???

My SB3 recently died, so I'm trying to run LMS on a Mac mini & control from iPad.

I've had it working fine, but every time the Mac goes to sleep, the sound output reverts to the Local Speaker of the Mac.

The Mac settings are set to output on USB>HiFi.

ITunes plays USB>HiFi, but LMS is playing through the Mac speaker.... Doesn't make sense.
