squeezeboxserver web ui not running - or at least not responding

hi there

I have just installed the media server on my popcorn a410 by using the logitechmediaserver_7.9.0~1477086729_all.deb package. following the steps here:

I have debian installed as one of the apps on the popcorn and I have other apps running fine on it..
the installation of the mediaserver appeared to go well and the service status responds with running ( I have restarted a couple of times)

# service logitechmediaserver status
logitechmediaserver is running.

it appeared not to require any dependancies (apt-get install -f returned nothing) so cant quite work out why I cant hit the web ui on ip:9000

I have had a bit of a root around for some sort of config file but have come up short.
can I do anything in some config file that I could via the web ui?

it appears to have installed in
/usr/share/squeezeboxserver

and doing a ps -ef | grep squeeze
reports

although looking in the var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs directory also turns up a blank

is it something simple I am missing, or will it simply not work on the popcorn a410 because of the architecture.?
