How to build from source?

hi

recently upgraded my linux box to debian stretch, and of course it killed LMS

I understand I need to build the latest and greatest from source?

is there anywhere a howto for this? I got the source and ran build-me.sh but I get some errors on building Sch.xs (zlib.h is missing)

thanks! would be good to get it going again, I miss it!
