Running LMS on Windows Home Server V2?

You're right.

Yes, you can install LMS as a service.

Is WHS2 really an option? Isn't it based on... Windows Server 2003 or
something?!?

I'd still recommend running it on a Pi (using piCorePlayer). No to very
little Linux knowledge required, then running standalone, no matter what
other services you decide to run on your Windows box.
