Scanner stops

I have used LMS for 10years approx, so I have pretty good experience with it.
Lately I have been running a NUC w latest Ubuntu and LMS 8.xxx and a few days ago Scanning (I re scan every night) stopped at 90%.
I downgraded LMS to 7.93 on the ubuntu, no difference. Started LMS on a W10 PC, same result.
Wiped the NUC and installed VB2.5, (lms 7.93) =
