With help from TimT and a couple of other posts I've successfully installed the Logitech Squeezeserver v 7.7.2 on to a WD Live NAS 1T model. I've moved the cache as recommended into the Public folder. I've also updated the firmware on the WD Live NAS.
Now the server is installed and running. It looks like the NAS itself won't enter standby. I've power meter on the mains supply so can validate that the unit powers form 9W to 4W prior to installing the squeezeserver software.
Of course I've enabled the energy saving option in the My book live web ui. I've installed one additional plugin, BBC IPlayer Radio . I've also disabled Twonky, and iTunes in the UI.
Can anybody tell me if:
a) the unit should successfully enter into the energy saving mode of the WD NAS without further adjustment?
b) Concerns are the latest WD firmware might in some way prevent this?
c) Would 7.8 software fix the issue?
d) If I stop the server to check the operation of standby mode using /etc/init.d/logitechmediaserver stop, would that negate all server activity such that the WD NAS will enter standby as prior to the installation ? I want to double check that the unit is still behaving correctly.
Thanks in advance of any help on this.
