We are trying an improvement in 8.2 to handle servers that don't like long streaming sessions and instead would like to have the whole file downloaded as quickly as possible and then close the session. It uses the cache repository of LMS to buffer the file under a tmp/ repository (so be aware that is writes on your disk, but LMS does that anyway in the cache repository for other purposes).
As this is a difficult to implement feature, we are looking for feedback to know if it improves things and if it has introduced other issues. Today, it works for services that either explicitly use it (Tidal and MixCloud if you use the version I've posted on this forum) or when you stream mp3 files with a "raw" handler (e.g. podcasts). You can enable it in Settings/Advanced/Performance. Please disable the "reliable" plugin if you have it installed.
Note that live radios are not cached, of course.
