The issue that I'm having problem with is malfunctioning search.
Whenever I attempt to search either in general context or for song title, the server kinda freezes and stops responding - any attempt to visit the server page times out and the player says it is having trouble connecting to library. Funnily enough, the playback does NOT stop. After some time passes, the repeated search does produce the results required.
This only happens in two situations:
- when search includes song titles (so if I only search for albums, all's fine)
- when I try to enter "new music"
My library is fairly big:
Total Tracks: 84,289
Total Albums: 7,074
Total Artists: 2,148
Total Genres: 32
Total Playing Time: 6814:15:44
Normally, I would attribute this to machine problems. But what is even more puzzling is that the problem persists for a very long time, and in the meantime:
- I used several server releases - don't remember the earliest version when it started but it's at least few years, I'm pretty sure I started out with 6.x
- two players (touch and classic)
- two different machines - the motherboard died on old one and I've rebuilt it from scratch
- two system versions - XP and 7, both were re-installed to check if problem disappears
The new and old system have no common modules - mb, memory, CPU etc. all is new. Only media hard drives were transferred. Both machines were more than capable hardware-wise, the current one is 64 bit Athlon II X2, 4GB RAM. Previous had older CPU but 4GB RAM as well.
I have to admit I'm completely at loss here. I have ruled out pretty much everything: software issue, hardware issue on my side - which leads me to conclusion it's server related. I would appreciate any help or comment.
