New 8.3 sorting behavior on diacritics

Used to be if you wanted a performer whose name started with a diacritic, e.g. Łukasz Borowicz, to sort within "L", you had to add a "SORT" tag such as ARTISTSORT, COMPOSERSORT, or CONDUCTORSORT. I recently discovered by accident that this is no longer necessary. That's a welcome change, thanks.

I don't see it in the changelog. Is this real or am I imagining it?
