LMS 8.3 removes media support

I was just setting up a new server, and looked at LMS 8.3, and noticed the changelog states:

"Remove support for media types other than audio (video, pictures). Let's make "M" music again."

What is the reasoning for this? I use my LMS for audio and video, so this seems a step backwards for me.
