Hello,
Normally I would classify a crash as worse than if the error was ignored. In this case I am not sure as if it had not crashed I would not know the problem.
I think that the problem is files/folders names that are too long because I was able to trim file/folders then everything seems to work.
For browsing using artists/albums etc, all files/folders show up and work.
The problem is when I browse by folder, the server crashes and needs to be restarted manually.
The behavior seems to be the same regardless of whether the files are stored locally or are stored on a NAS (UNC path or files stored physically on the windows box.)
Note: LMS/Squeezebox Server runs correctly on a MAC pointing to the same files stored on a NAS and works when running on the NAS pointing at the same files.
Only on the Windows8 is there a problem.
Yes, the file names are too long but they do work when browsing all methods other than by folder. So can this be fixed.

When total song # agree between windows (LMS Server)(songs trimmed) and mac/synology(LMS Server) not trimmed, the "discovering files/folders is off by 1". Windows is 1 more than Mac/Synology.

On Windows, before trimming songs/folders, "discovering files/folders" the # that is less by 1, agrees on windows (LMS) Mac/Synology (LMS)

Before trimming folders/files Windows LMS total song count is 6 less that Mac/Synology (LMS). This might be true, but I have not been able to find any missing songs.
Songs not available through browsing folders due to crash is greater than 6. Those folders and all songs inside are available when browsing by other methods. Those are not the 6 missing, I think
