Where to start?
Let's see, a few weeks ago I stupidly decided that enough time had passed since the disastrous roll out of Logitech Media Server and that hopefully by now all the scanning issues had been resolved but boy was I ever wrong.
Okay so I first upgraded to LMS version 7.7.3 - the latest official release. After two days of scanning I had everything up and running for a couple of weeks but then the trouble started. LMS would no longer complete the nightly "Look for new and changed media files".
I then upgraded LMS to the version 7.8 using the latest release. And once again everything worked fine for a few days until LMS would no longer complete the nightly "Look for new and changed media files".
Then I made the mistake of calling Logitech support and was told by their representative that I would have to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of LMS, which I did.
Okay so I lost all my setting and media library so I did a full clear and rescan which died about halfway through the scan. I managed to manually restart the scanner using the command prompt and ran "scanner.exe --rescan" and the scan finished.
So now I have a media library but a new and much nastier problem has arisen. None of my 7 different squeezebox devices will connect to my music library - NONE.
Here is all the information on my setup (note: I cannot open the Settings page of the web interface in order to copy the information, sorry):
Anti-virus program: Norton 360 (with all the required ports open and firewall rules set). Remember that everything was working fine when I was using Squeezebox Server. I also contacted Norton support and had them do a complete uninstall and reinstall of Norton 360 - so I'm pretty sure that Norton 360 is NOT the problem since the problem persisted even after Norton 360 was temporily uninstalled.
Web control will not open on ANY computer.
The computer running LMS is running Windows 7 Home Premium with Service pack 1 installed.
I also get this message from time to time in the Diagnostics tab of the LMS Control Panel:
Port 9000: Fail
"Logitech Media Server is running but can't be contacted on port 9000.The following applications might be blocking your connection:"
With no further information, however sometimes port 9000 shows up as "OK".
And here is the what the LMS server log says:
[14-02-25 17:04:25.4466] Slim::Networking::SqueezeNetwork::Players::_player s_error (337) Unable to get players from SN: Connect timed out: Bad file descriptor, retrying in 13800 seconds
[14-02-25 17:04:25.4472] Slim::Networking::SqueezeNetwork::_error (604) Unable to login to SN: Connect timed out: Bad file descriptor
Two basic errors: 337 and 604
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
