Unable to add last.fm account

I'm trying to add my last.fm username and password on the last.fm audioscrobbler page under server settings. However, I keep getting the message:

"There was an error verifying your account with Last.fm. Please try again later. (Connect timed out: Invalid argument)"

Anyone else had this problem? my last.fm account is otherwise fine - I can logon at the last.fm site.
