Don't know it it is to better categorize this as an LMS issue or a 3rd party hardware issue, so I posted on both sides...
Had a pretty sad morning.
Given the good rep of 7.9, I tried upgrading to it using SSOTS. (My TS219PII started with the official 7.7.2 Qpkg, then upgraded to 7.7.3 and then 7.8 lately via SSOTS) All were working fine under 7.8. Clicked the 7.9 file to upgrade. It says files were extracted but didn't know what was extracted. Upgrade failed. OK. So, I tried going back to 7.8. It says installed, but it couldn't start. Log says something about CPAN (sorry. I didn't copy it off, as I was operating out of a little tablet at that time) and suggests that I install something with required packages. Being desperate, I decided to uninstall, reinstall via the QNAP's Qpkg, and then re-upgrade to 7.8. (As a side note, directly upgrading from 7.7.2 to 7.8 didn't work with that same CPAN error. I had to go from 7.7.2 to 7.7.3 to 7.8). Now it seems to be live. A few questions:
1) What could have gone wrong with the 7.9 installation? (I used this file: logitechmediaserver-7.9.0-1403598500-arm-linux.tgz and did rename it to squeezeboxserver-7.9.0-arm-linux.tgz)
2) Why did my downgrade back to 7.8 fail despite a successful install?
3) By doing what I did, I seem to have lost all settings. Is there a way to roll back yet still keep settings?
4) On the first couple of rescans, they seem to have ended prematurely and didn't pick up everything. I started a clear library and rescan before I left home, and would know when I return. However, if it is indeed a problem (as I don't see why the first couple of rescans didn't work), how should I solve that?
Thanks.
