"Stable" versions of 7.9 and 7.8?

I'm rebuilding my squeezebox system onto a new machine. I understand the concept of 7.8 and 7.9 but I'm wondering if either of these branches have periodic "stable" builds or whether it is mostly just nightlies. I won't have time to devote to monkeying around with it so I'm hoping that I don't have to worry about ongoing maintenance as much.

Thoughts? Are the nightlies on 7.9 pretty stable in general?
