The PC supporting my LMS is about to die. I'm wondering what sort of performance compromise I'd be making by running the LMS "app" on my Synology 1812+ NAS. This NAS has an Intel Atom D2700 Dualcore (2C/4T) 2.13GHz x86 Processor with 64-bit@DDR3, 1GB of RAM.
Most of my library is FLAC, with a quickly growing list of hi-res (FLAC) files. This includes a handful at 24/192. (I've done the triod mod to enable support for 24/192 playback on the SqueezeBox Touch.) In addition to the SB Touch, I also have a SB radio and a Boom.
As I understand it, the Synology wouldn't need to transcode any FLAC file played on the Touch. Where I could run into problems is with the high-res material that needs to be transcoded in order to play on the SB Radio or Boom.
Are there any issues I should be concerned about running LMS from a NAS with this processor? Is triod's mod supported in whatever the current version of LMS is for Synology? Am I right about the transcoding issue for the SB Radio and the Boom?
