I had this problem since LMS 7.7.2 and now with LMS 7.8. My LMS runs on a squeezeplug (dockstar) and my music library is stored on an attached USB hard drive formatted to NTFS.
I have some folder names and file names in the library that contain unicode characters (Chinese characters). I also have some playlists with filenames contain unicode characters. If I do a clear library and rescan, the playlists will show up but the names of the playlists whose filenames contain unicode characters will be replaced with odd characters. Interestingly, if I do it in 2 steps: (1) remove the playlist folder from the clear library and rescan, let the rescan complete, and then (2) add back the playlist folder and do rescan only changed files/folders, the names of the playlists whose filenames contain unicode characters show up correctly in the LMS web interface and on my SBTouch, SBRadio, etc.
Anyone has ideas how I can make my playlists whose filenames contain unicode characters show up correctly without having to do the 2-step process?
Thanks,
Leon
