Greets,
My beloved Squeezeplay suddenly stopped working. I use this player extensively and it's a terrific player, but for reasons I can't sort out it just stopped working. Here's the details.
I have Logitech Media Server 7.7.3 running on a home network server in a Win 7 environment (all PCs are running the same version of Win7) - it's been rock solid and serves up over 500GB. I have one wired Squeezebox Classic running as a player and it works fine. Other than the server PC (w/Squeezeplay installed), I have two wired workstations and one wireless laptop on this network all with Squeezeplay installed; and I have three Apple devices (two iPhones and one iPad) running iPeng all wirelessly accessing LMS. Everything was running perfectly.
The Apple devices have no problem accessing and controlling LMS through iPeng. The Squeezeplay installation on the server box itself works fine. But the three LAN computers running Squeezeplay quit being able to access LMS on the server. SoftSqueeze, however, plays fine.
When I try to run Squeezeplay and connect to LMS I get a "couldn't connect" message - I can't connect to mysqueezebox.com either. So it's clearly a LAN issue. I use an ASUS RT-N66U router running Merlin - it too has been a rock. I tried turning the Windows and router firewalls on an off - nothing changed. I checked to see that the correct TCP and UDP ports were open and everything looks okay (I think... I'm no expert on net setups). I updated LMS to 7.7.4 and updated my Sqeezeplay to the latest version I could find - no change. In Squeezeplay I tried directing (using Settings/Advanced/Networking) the player to the server hosting LMS - no change. I have my router set-up to assign all devices on my LAN to specific IP addresses, so I checked my router table to ensure the assignments hadn't changed - everything was as I set it up.
So I'm baffled as to why Squeezeplay suddenly stopped working after years of working perfectly - and why the problem affected all of my LAN PCs at the same time (I don't think it's a problem caused by something started on any single PC, though it could be). I went down the route of thinking the problem might be a Workgroup conflict, so I spent a lot of energy checking my shares and interconnectivity and things seem okay in that department.
I've read several threads where others have experienced similar problems, but what little advice I could find hasn't resolved this one.
Any ideas?... this one has me stumped and I could really use some advice. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
Cheers,
TY
